Chemical reactions refer to processes that involve the rearrangement of atoms to form new substances. In physical changes, on the other hand, the chemical structures stay the same.
The melting of water is an example of physical change. Even though the state of the water changes from solid to liquid, the chemical formula H2O stays the same.
