The mother has an X chromosome with the colourblind gene and a normal X chromosome. One son inherits a normal X chromosome and a Y chromosome. The other son inherits a colourblind X chromosome and a Y chromosome- there is a 50% probability that a son is colourblind. One daughter inherits two colourblind X chromosomes and the other daughter inherits a colourblind X chromosome and a normal X chromosome. There is a 100% probability that a daughter will carry the colourblind gene and a 50% chance that a daughter will be colourblind.
