Constant volume calorimeter
A constant volume calorimeter, also known as a bomb calorimeter, consists of a closed reaction vessel immersed into a water bath. The vessel is a pressure resistant metal bomb, so that for example combustion reactions, which develop a lot of gas, can be monitored at a constant volume. The heat developed during the reaction is transferred through the reaction vessel to the water bath, and the change in temperature of the water bath is recorded.
