Sutures of Cranial Bones: Age Estimate

The skull is made from cranial bones and facial bones. In total, eight cranial bones encase and protect the brain. The area where cranial bones connect is referred to as a suture. As a person ages, sutures calcify and the cranial bones fuse together.
