Vacuum Distillation

Distillation, when performed under reduced pressure conditions is called vacuum distillation. Distilling at reduced pressure lowers the boiling point of the compounds in the mixture. This has many benefits, as it will not only speed up the distillation process but also allows the distillation of components that would decompose at higher temperatures.

The vacuum outlet is connected to the collecting flask through a vacuum hose. The vacuum hose should be thick-walled, so it can withstand lower pressure conditions.
