Ectotherms and Endotherms

There is a wide variety of organisms on Astakos IV, and this is also true when it comes to thermoregulatory mechanisms and behaviors.

Goslins, for example, are able to regulate their body temperature regardless of the ambient temperature. Gecksis, on the other hand, depend on external factors for thermoregulation.

The graph below illustrates that, by showing a linear relationship between operative temperature and body temperature for gecksis.

Environment, behavior, and physiology all play a role in gecksi thermoregulation.
