ELISA high background

High background refers to excessive color development or high optical density readings.

Possible cause Troubleshooting
Poor washing Check the water quality. Use the highest number of washes recommended
Laboratory temperature is too high or too low Mantain the room temperature within 18-25 oC
Reagents were intermixed, contaminated or prepared incorrectly Ensure correct reagents are used and not expired
Substrate has deteriorated. Make sure the substrate is colorless
