Ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS)

EMS is a mutagenic compound, that introduces point mutations into the DNA. The nucleotide substitution is caused by guanine alkylation which leads to mistakes during DNA replication. EMS is often used in genetic screens to introduce random mutations.
