Implantation
Implantation is a process by which the product of conception, called the conceptus, attaches to and burrows into the endometrium, until the conceptus is completely surrounded by endometrial tissue. Implantation takes about one week to occur. Once implanted in the endometrium, the conceptus will be contained within the endometrium for the entire period of development.
