SGLT1 intestinal glucose co-transporters

Transporters are not only affected by blockers. Sometimes, genetic mutations also play a role. For example, reduced or impaired glucose and sodium symport from the mucosal side would result in accumulation of these in the intestinal lumen and water retention. In turn, due to dehydration, plasma volume can decrease, which results in elevated sodium concentrations.
