Marine Biome
The Marine Biome main characteristic is that the salinity of water is very high when compared to the freshwater biomes. Marine biomes cover around 75% of the Earth's surface, making marine biomes the most extensive biome in the world.
However, when it comes to biodiversity, marine biomes are highly variable, since they comprise from the deep ocean, where the biodiversity can be very low, to the coral reefs and coastal areas, which are amongst the highest diverse systems in the planet.
