Muscular System
The muscular system is composed of over 600 skeletal muscles that coordinate action to produce voluntary movements.
Functions of the muscular system include:
- Voluntary movement
- Stability and posture
- Heat production
Muscle tissue is also found in some visceral organs such as the heart and digestive organs. Here the muscles function involuntarily to move fluids and substances throughout the body.
