Nervous System

The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. It is the major regulatory system of the body. Functions of the nervous system include:

  • Sensory reception
  • Information processing, memory, learning
  • Control of voluntary and involuntary movement
  • Reflexive responses
  • Assists in maintaining homeostasis

This system includes the brain found in the head, the spinal cord in the neck and back, and the network of nerves spread throughout the body.
