Microliter pipette

Micropipettes come in different sizes. At Labster we use the following pipettes:

Three different pipette sizes and the volumes each is designed to hold. The first pipette, P20, has a minimum volume of 2 microliters and a maximum volume of 20 microliters. The three units from top to bottom represent 10's, 1's, and 0.1 microliters. The P200 pipette has a minimum volume of 20 microliters and a maximum volume of 200 microliters. The three units from top to bottom represent 100's, 10's, and 1's. The P1000 pipette has a minimum volume of 200 microliters and a maximum volume of 1000 microliters. The three units from top to bottom represent 1000's, 100's, and 10's.

To adjust the volume, turn the adjustable wheel or the plunger (depending on the pipette) until the desired volume is displayed on the readout. It is very important to stay within the volume range of the respective pipette to avoid contaminating the pipette or producing inaccurate measurements. Proper pipetting technique is important to ensure an accurate volume of liquid is transferred.
