Pleural Cavity

The thoracic cavity contains a pleural cavity on the right and left. These cavities house the lungs which are part of the respiratory system. The pleural cavities are divided by a region called the mediastinum which houses the pericardial cavity, a fluid-filled space between the visceral and parietal pericardium.

These are located on the left and right sides of the chest. They contain the lungs.
