qPCR

Quantitative PCR (qPCR), also known as Real-Time PCR, is a technique that monitors the accumulation of a DNA product from a PCR reaction after each cycle using fluorescent dyes. It allows quantification of the initial number of copies of a particular type of DNA in a sample. This technique benefits from high sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, repeatability and accuracy.

qPCR is often used to quantify the expression of a gene of interest. This method is called RT-qPCR.
