Realized Niche

A realized niche is the part of a species' fundamental niche that the species occupies as a result of limiting factors in the habitat. If collecting field data, all data collected is part of the species' realized niche. Since the shape of the realized niche depends on the habitat possibilities offered by the environment as well as the interactions between species, the shape of the realized niche n-dimensional hypervolume may contain holes.
