Recessive trait

A recessive trait is a trait that is only expressed if the diploid organism carries two identical alleles. This is, if the organism is homozygous for the trait.

A recessive trait is “latent” or non-expressed when the individual is heterozygous, that is, if it carries one recessive allele and one dominant allele.
