Hazard group 2
Hazard group 2 is a group of organism that can causes human or animal disease but is unlikely to be a serious hazard to community or the environment. Hazard group 2 has moderate individual risk and low community risk.
Example of Hazard group 2 organism: Bacillus anthracis, Bordetella pertussis, Brucella spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, Clostridium botulinum, Clostridium tetani, Helicobacter pylori, most Salmonella spp., Yersinia pestis, Mycobacterium leprae, Shigella spp., Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Human blood.

Laboratory personnel need specific training in handling pathogenic agents and are supervised by scientists with advanced training.

Only authorized personal can enter the laboratory.

Extreme caution must be taken for conducting work with sharp materials to avoid infection through injuries.

Procedures that yield infectious aerosols or splashes must be conducted in a safety cabinet, Class I or higher.
