Hazard group 3

Hazard group 3 is a group of organisms that can cause serious human or animal disease but do not ordinarily spread from one infected individual to another. Hazard group 3 has high individual risk and low community risk. Effective treatment and preventive measures are available.

Example of Hazard group 3 organisms: Bacillus anthracis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Salmonella typhi, Vesicular Stomatitis Virus, Yellow Fever Virus, Francisella tularensis, Coxiella burnetti

Biosafety Level 3 is required to work with Hazard group 3.
