Salt bridges

A salt bridge is a combination of two noncovalent interactions: hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions. They are normally found to contribute stability to folded conformation of proteins, if amino acids involved are less than 4 Å apart.

However, salt bridges are also found in supramolecular chemistry.
