Species

A species is a group of organisms that can produce fertile offspring through sexual reproduction.

This is the biological definition of a species and is the main definition. There are exceptions to this rule. Some species are similar enough that hybrid offspring are possible and may often occur in nature, for example. In fact, the presence of hybrids between similar species suggests that they may have descended from a single interbreeding species, and the speciation process may not yet be complete.
