Staff action
There are several things people should do to make the lab safer for themselves and other users.
-
Buddy system: an assigned buddy must know at all times when you are working in the lab. They do not have to be there with you, but they must be available to help in case of an emergency.
-
Sign in: by keeping track of every lab entry, it is possible to find out who is responsible if anything goes wrong.
-
Training: no one is allowed into the lab, unless they are in training and are supervised, or have had the mandatory 40 hours of training. Individuals without proper training are a danger to themselves, their co-workers, their research material and the environment.
-
Security: Access is normally limited to those who need to use the lab.
