Suspensions

Suspensions are heterogeneous mixtures of substances, where the particle size of one substance is big enough to be seen with the naked eye if magnified (Figure 1). Suspensions scatter light and the particles suspended settle out if left without mixing. In addition, the filtering of suspensions leads to the separation of their components.
