Transcriptomics

The transcriptome comprises all RNA molecules, including mRNA, rRNA, tRNA, and other non-coding RNA transcribed in one cell or a population of cells.

Transcriptomic data provides information about the quantity of gene expression, which can be used to analyze differential gene expression. In a living cell there is a constant turnover of RNA and gene expression is continuously adjusted.

Transcriptomic data can be obtained by RNA-seq or microarrays.
