Volumetric flask

A volumetric flask is used to prepare a chemical solution with an accurate and precise volume.

Volumetric flasks come in different sizes: 1.5, 10, 25, 50, 250, 500, and 1000 mL. Each flask has one calibration mark on its neck to indicate where the user should stop filling the flask.

How to use a volumetric flask:

1. Measure and add the solute to the solution.

2. Add enough solvent to dissolve the solute.

3. Continue to add solvent until you reach the line marked on the volumetric flask.

4. Seal the volumetric flask and invert it to thoroughly mix the solution.
